This is something that I’ve always hoped someone would do. Currently moving my house into a storage unit temporarily and the pantry sprawl is so real and I don’t want to live like this at my next place. Rooting for you and can’t wait to see what you come up with.

I am SO excited for this! Yay! I have your cookbook too. And with our first baby due in a month, I think I’ll need all the help with simple ingredient recipes (especially focusing on limiting food waste) I can get. I’m looking forward to see what you share!

I'm super excited to subscribe to this! Living with a smaller pantry, limiting food waste and getting creative with few ingredients is what I champion on my Substack too, so we have a lot in common! Can't wait to see your first post.

I’ve recently pared my cabinets, fridge, and freezer down to the emptiest they’ve been since I achieved food security for my household. Security often begets simplicity, I’ve found, in the kitchen, my clothes closet, the number of entertainments I pursue, etc. I struggle to simplify in the kitchen because I love experimenting as a cook, but my household is two people with one very reliable if limited palate (brother) and a grazer who never eats a balanced or complete anything all in one go (me). I’ll be really interested in the meta writing about the project, like what you find the most challenging once you’ve found your groove, if you feel like the goal needs to change over time, etc. Thank you for inviting us along!

This is a very interesting idea! And you’re right -

I’ve often said I should just use the same list over and over. Any chance your ingredients are gluten free? Or easy to convert?

Hi Brenda, only two or three of the ingredients have gluten, and recipes will always include substitutions.

I was just saying yesterday that Koreans use about 25 different ingredients to make everything. There are some great Korean ladies camping and eating their way through Koreans national park system on YouTube

This is a great idea. I subscribed to Cooking Light for many years, and the recipes were great, but they always included some pricey ingredient I would be unlikely to use up. When I was home with two kids on a tight budget, I moved toward sites like Budget Bytes for tasty recipes using common ingredients. I’ve enjoyed your NYT recipes and look forward to this project.
