I am ravenous for summer. Let’s do this thing. These are the first recipes I’ll eat as fast as I can. Share yours in the comments below?
1. Claire Saffitz’s Grilled Clam Pizza
Made it last year with clams that I dug out of the sand; can’t wait to do a repeat.
2. Grill-Roasted Chicken
Like simple roasted chicken but smoky from an hour plus on the grill. I use the method in Paula Disbrowe’s Any Night Grilling.
3. This slaw from
Ate it on a dog at a beach bonfire last night. ✔️
4. & 5. All the marinated vegetables
Specifically beets and zucchini.
6. This almost blackened, sumac-stained chicken
7. Lemony orzo with asparagus & garlic bread crumbs
It’s the first dish I wanted to make with this year’s asparagus, but then other things cut in line.
8. The Scuttlebutt
Again, on the beach.
9. - 11. Sauces
‘Tis the season of peering into the fridge, grabbing a jar of sauce and random lettuces, grains, soft boiled eggs, and steamed vegetables, mixing it all together in a bowl, and it tasting like you spent a lot of time on the situation.
- ’s red pepper vinaigrette
Woks of Life’s Chinese cold “salad” dressing
Cheeseboard Pizza’s green sauce
12. ’s rhubarb apricot galette
Made it over the weekend and really want to make it again before rhubarb zips out of here. The way the rhubarb mushes with the apricot is so special.
13. Sarah Jampel’s crispy cornmeal blueberry cobbler
14. Emma Laperruque’s corn cake
But maybe I’ll add berries to the cake and skip the frosting and eat it for breakfast.
Love this list!
