On election night I gathered with a group for hot pot and pie(s). Spending the day out of my head and in my hands cooking and baking was a good idea. Wondering and worrying and and waiting with others was the right idea.
It’s not exactly the same, but we’re here, together, now. It’s Thursday, which is another opportunity to busy our hands and to eat — ideally food that fortifies, focuses, and comforts us for the unknown ahead.
Below are some of my favorite recipes for these purposes, including a new pasta arrabbiata (that’s Italian for angry).
Griddled PB&J (above)
100% Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes
Farro and Lentils with Jammy Onions
Sloppy Lennys (above)
Haluski (Buttery Cabbage and Noodles)
Brown Butter Arrabbiata
This tomato sauce has a shorter-than-usual simmering time but more tomato flavor. The answer to the riddle can be found in brownies.
